The picture comes from this recent article about Gil Fronsdal and the Insight Meditation Center (IMC) located in Redwood City, California, on the peninsula halfway between San Francisco and San Jose.
For me, Gil has been and continues to be not just an expert teacher of mindfulness meditation but an inspiration to practice and a role model. Not only does IMC have no paid staff, as far as I know Gil has supported himself for decades entirely by donations from people who wish to support what he teaches.
My favorite resource is this audio collection of his talks going back 25 years or so -- and which continues to grow. At that link also notice the teacher selection box at the top of the page. Talks from many dozens of other teachers are available there.
